It was the fourth day of the Women’s Ashes Test held in Canberra. England won the toss and elected to bowl. Australia had scored 337-9 in the first inning, while England scored 297 runs.

The match took off to an intense start filled with brilliant plays from each side. For a while there, the situation looked quite dull for England when Heather Knight went lbw to Darcie Brown, which was quite the good finish after her 168 runs in the first inning. Darcie Brown thought she had Sophia Dunkley ousted in the same way, but that decision was overturned upon review. Dunkley was another star who shined throughout these matches, even if she debuted just last year. It’s also noteworthy to mention that Beth Mooney had undergone jaw surgery after injuring it in a practice match but still ran at breakneck speed and saved a boundary on day 2 and scored 63 runs on day 4.

Australia completed the second inning with 216 runs and 7 wickets. Beth Mooney scored a half-century and led Australia with the most runs in this match with the number of runs being 63. England completed the second innings with 245 runs and nine wickets. Vice-Captain Nat Sciver scored a half-century as well and led the England team with 58 runs.

The draw means that there is another three-match ODI series to play. In conclusion, Australia is within arm’s reach of the Ashes urn and England made one of the greatest chases in women’s Test history. They would have to win all three ODI matches to have a winning chance.

Player of the match honour was awarded to England captain Heather Knight for her outstanding plays during the match, especially that magnificent century which pushed the team back into the game in the first inning. Both sides put their heart and soul into this match and that passion and drive made it one of the best Test matches of this era.
