50 year old Hawkins was discovered dead at his Colombia hotel on Friday evening. Following reports of a man suffering from “chest pain,” paramedics attempted to resuscitate him. According to Colombian officials, Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins had ten different substances in his system at the time of his death.
The band was scheduled to perform in Bogotá on Friday night, following a performance in Argentina last Sunday as part of their South American tour.
According to Wales Online, an investigation into Hawkins’ death has begun, and a statement issued by the Colombian attorney general’s office stated that Hawkins had a cocktail of drugs in his system. THC (marijuana), tricyclic antidepressants, benzodiazepines, and opioids were among them.

The statement, which was released on Twitter and translated from the original Spanish, read as follows: On the preliminary forensic medical examination of the body of Taylor Hawkins, drummer of the band Foo Fighters, who died yesterday in a hotel in the north of Bogotá, the Attorney General’s Office stated the following: “In the urine toxicology test performed on the body of Taylor Hawkins, 10 types of substances were preliminarily found, including: THC (marijuana), tricyclic antidepressants, benzodiazepines and opioids.” Paramedics attempted to resuscitate Hawkins, but he did not respond, and he was declared dead at his hotel in northern Bogotá, according to the statement.

Born in 1972 in Fort Worth, Texas, Taylor Hawkins grew up in Laguna Beach, California. He and his lovely wife Alison have three kids from their union. The band, led by former Nirvana frontman Dave Grohl, said they were “devastated by the untimely loss” and asked that Hawkins’ family’s privacy be respected.
Hawkins was a member of the Foo Fighters for over two decades, performing vocals and guitar alongside Grohl and fellow bandmates Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett, and Rami Jaffee. Following the departure of the band’s previous drummer, William Goldsmith, he joined in 1997. “His musical spirit and infectious laughter will live on with all of us forever,” the Foo Fighters said in a tweet from their official account. Other celebrities including Miley Cyrus also paid their respects to the talented musician.
